A traditional tour with Martin Maleček from the ‘Obzor Lesná’ club through the unique prefabricated housing estate which was erected on meadows and in the woods. Last chance to see the Obzor complex in its original shape; the complex was put forward to be protected as cultural heritage site in 2010.

Architect Stanislav Fiala (of the Fiala+Nemec Studio) will present the currently ongoing reconstruction and transformation of the protected complex of three buildings, one of which – the bank – was designed by architect Josef Gočár. The complex will be open during construction only thanks to the investors from Sebre and for this reason the tour groups will be quite small and all visitors will be taking the tour at their own risk. Prague - Liesbeth van der Pol / “Making of architecture“

Liesbeth van der Pol (*1957) is a Dutch architect who leads, together with Herman Zeinstra, the Dok Architecten Studio. Between 2008 and 2011 she worked as the ‘state architect’ for the Ministry of Housing and Territorial Planning (which is now a part of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment). This post is taken very seriously in Holland and it is assumed that the ‘state architect’ will not only formulate the architecture-related and social housing policies but also that she will independently support high-quality architecture. Liesbeth van der Pol often lectures at universities and managed a public space studio at the Eindhoven Design Academy.

Architect Stanislav Fiala (of the Fiala+Nemec Studio) will present the currently ongoing reconstruction and transformation of the protected complex of three buildings, one of which – the bank – was designed by architect Josef Gočár. The complex will be open during construction only thanks to the investors from Sebre and for this reason the tour groups will be quite small and all visitors will be taking the tour at their own risk. We ask for patience if the interest from visitors will be larger than expected.

This monstrous socialist lump of a building containing 50 separate halls and lounges that were able to host almost 10 000 persons at one time continues to exert, despite its later reconstructions, the chimeras of the former communist leaders in the 1980s about what would represent their ghastly system best. Visitors will be able to tour some of the preserved interiors while enjoying the breathtaking views of Prague.

IPR will open the doors of its headquarters in the imposing complex of three buildings  designed by the famous Prague brutalist Karel Prager that are located in the immediate vicinity of the historic site of the Emauzy Convent.

A rather unknown technical facility designed by architect Karel Prager, which supplies heat and hot water to the entire General University Hospital, remained in its original condition (except for new boiler technology).
