The story of social housing and small-apartment construction in interwar Brno with architecture historian Michal Kolář.
Providing adequate housing for socially disadvantaged groups was one of the declared priorities of the Czechoslovak state throughout the interwar period. The city of Brno was also actively involved in supporting the construction of small apartments. A number of architects addressed the issue, including Jindřich Kumpošt, Bohuslav Fuchs, and Josef Polášek. Through several selected examples, this guided walk with architecture historian Michal Kolář will explore the basic legislation of the period, the social situation of poorer residents, and the efforts of individual architects, the labour movement, and political representatives to create better living conditions.
