BRNO – I LIVE, THEREFORE I AM

A panel discussion on housing exclusion with Barbora Antonová, Tomáš Hlaváček, Jan Milota, and Veronika Onheiserová.
The central theme is the Housing First principle, based on the conviction that stable housing is a fundamental prerequisite for addressing other challenges in life. The discussion is organised in cooperation with the Husa na provázku Theatre and follows on from the now discontinued production Reality. The creative process behind the production will be introduced by its dramaturge Veronika Onheiserová, who will moderate the discussion. The creative team drew inspiration from Brno’s Rapid Re-Housing project (2016–2019) and used individual stories to raise questions of affordable and dignified housing, now among the most important social issues facing Czech cities.
The discussion will feature Jan Milota, the main initiator of the Housing First plan in Brno and co-author of the Methodology for Preventing Housing Loss; Barbora Antonová from the Vesna association, whose practical work focuses on the existential crises faced by single mothers and Ukrainian refugees; and Tomáš Hlaváček, director of documentaries on ending homelessness.
Before the discussion, there will be a screening of a new documentary by director Tomáš Hlaváček, creator of the award-winning film House with No Exit.
