The former Bulín Villa on Květná Street, today home to the Institute of Vertebrate Biology of the Czech Academy of Sciences, belonged to lawyer Hynek Bulín. It was designed for him by architect Vladimír Fischer, with artists Jano Köhler and Václav Hynek Mach contributing to its decoration. Particularly noteworthy is the unusual decoration of the villa’s interiors – zoomorphic and plant motifs adorn both the staircase in the entrance hall and a private chapel of unknown dedication.
The design of the garden, which remains heritage protected today, was developed alongside the house. Designed in 1924 by the outstanding landscape architect Josef Kumpán, it is a fine example of pre-war villa garden design.
